In a big shift for foreign medical graduates, NBEMS has confirmed that the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination will now be held thrice a year instead of twice, and the first of these additional sessions, the FMGE October 2026 exam, opens for registration tomorrow. Big Change: FMGE Now Held Thrice a Year

Until now, FMGE was conducted twice annually in June and December. Starting this cycle, NBEMS has added a third session in October, giving foreign medical graduates an extra opportunity each year to clear the screening test and register to practice in India. The October 2026 exam is the first edition under this revised, three-times-a-year schedule.

How to Register for FMGE October 2026

  1. Visit the official website of FMGE

  2. Complete the online registration process first, using your basic personal details
  3. Log in with your generated credentials
  4. Fill out the complete online application form
  5. Upload scanned copies of all required documents in the specified format
  6. Pay the application fee through the available online payment modes
  7. Submit the form

FMGE October 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, make sure you meet these requirements:

  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). Foreign nationals without OCI status generally cannot appear for FMGE.
  • Medical qualification: You must have completed an MBBS or equivalent primary medical degree from a foreign institution, verified by the concerned Indian Embassy, and must have met the academic and age requirements that were applicable at the time of your admission to that course.
  • Exemption: Candidates who completed their medical degree in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA are exempt from FMGE and can register directly with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and their State Medical Council.

FMGE October 2026: Application Fee

Based on the standard FMGE fee structure applied in recent sessions, candidates can expect to pay approximately ₹6,195 (₹5,250 exam fee plus 18% GST), payable online via credit card, debit card, or net banking. NBEMS will confirm the exact fee for the October session in the detailed Information Bulletin releasing alongside the application link.

Documents Required for FMGE October 2026 Application

Keep scanned copies of the following ready before you begin your application:

  • Passport copy
  • MBBS pass certificate, certified by the Indian Embassy
  • Class 12 passing certificate and marksheet
  • Date of birth proof 
  • Internship certificate 
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Address proof like PAN card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or Passport
  • Equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities 
  • NMC Eligibility Certificate
  • Fail certificate, for ex-candidates re-appearing
