Schools across Gautam Buddh Nagar district will remain closed for students from Nursery to Class 8 on Friday and Saturday, January 16 and 17. The decision has been taken by the district administration due to dense fog and extreme cold weather conditions in the region.
As per the official orders, all schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, UP Board, IB and other recognised boards must follow the closure instructions issued by the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration.
“All schools from Nursery to Class 8 affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and other boards in Gautam Buddh Nagar district shall remain closed on January 16 and 17,” the order stated.
The district administration has also warned schools against violating the closure order. Strict action will be taken against any school found reopening or conducting physical classes for students from Nursery to Class 8 during the specified period.
Earlier, the district education department had extended the winter vacation for schools until January 15 in view of the ongoing cold wave. However, continued dense fog and extreme cold weather conditions have prompted the administration to further suspend physical classes for younger students.
The closure order applies specifically to January 16 and 17, 2026. Parents and students should follow further instructions issued by their respective schools and the district administration regarding the resumption of physical classes.
